Join GVI’s sister organisation, Bushwise, for the IFGA Professional Safari Guide & Conservation Course – a 12-month, career-focused program that combines world-class safari guide training with practical conservation experience.
Over the first six months, you’ll train on campus in South Africa’s Lowveld region, one of the continent’s most biodiverse Big Five ecosystems. You’ll learn about ecology, animal behaviour, conservation management, and ethical guiding while earning your CATHSSETA-accredited safari guide qualification and building core conservation-related skills.
Then, for those who choose the 12-month option, you’ll spend a further six months on a work placement with one of Bushwise’s conservation organisation partners. This gives you the opportunity to apply your skills in real-world settings — working with wildlife professionals, contributing to research, and developing the confidence needed to excel in your conservation career.
