10 global challenges

GVI’s Focus on 10 Critical Global Issues

01 February 2023

In our commitment to addressing global challenges, we have identified 10 critical issues that serve as guiding themes throughout our work. These issues form the backbone of our efforts to create holistic strategies for biodiversity conservation, improve livelihoods, and ensure inclusivity, particularly for marginalised groups.

These 10 critical issues are not just guiding principles but also focal points around which participants in our programs can build specific knowledge bases and research projects. They provide a framework for sharing and developing defined skill sets, organising awareness campaigns, and orienting efforts to make a positive impact in participants’ own communities once they return home.

Our conservation programs are strategically designed to prioritise resources on key issues such as plastic pollution and litter, climate change, endangered species, biodiversity loss and sustainability. Simultaneously, our community development programs are tailored to focus on early childhood development, education for both children and adults, gender equality, health, and justice, equity, diversity and inclusion.

By aligning our work with these 10 critical global issues, we strive to create meaningful and sustainable change, ensuring that our initiatives have a lasting positive impact on the environment, communities and the world at large.
