Volunteer on vital conservation projects and take an adventure tour through the Queensland bush
Program Overview
Immerse yourself in the dramatic landscapes of Northern Australia—travel along Queensland’s stunning coastline, visit the world renowned Great Barrier Reef and contribute to vital conservation projects before embarking on an adventure tour of the region.
You will work with a widely respected conservation NGO that operates a number of projects in the region. You could be working on any one of these fantastic projects, focusing on tropical rainforest or the barrier reef coastline, giving you an incredible look into Australia off the tourist trail.
After all your hard work, take in a well-deserved adventure-packed tour from white water rafting to snorkelling. Even more adventure can be added on in the form of scuba diving, bungee jumping or sky diving.
Life on the Program
Before beginning the project work, you will enjoy a welcome orientation and a relaxing first weekend getting to know your fellow volunteers.
The work you will be doing can be incredibly varied, so you should expect activities to include anything from endangered species protection to walking trail construction to environmental monitoring. The work you will be assigned to will depend on the needs of the conservation project at the time, so you should be prepared for physical work and all weather conditions.
On the second phase of the expedition you will travel throughout Queensland, hiking, trekking through tropical rainforest, snorkeling pristine marine environs and white water rafting. During your down time you can also decide to have a go at bungee jumping or sky diving, at your expense.
Accommodation throughout the project will be varied, in hostels, rainforest lodges or tents. Food while on program is also varied, but you should make allowances for basic meals, particularly on remote project locations.
