How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in joining one of our programmes.  Applying is a simple process and our Regional Office Staff are available to help you and provide information every step of the way.

Here's a step by step breakdown of our application and acceptance process, but feel free to give us a call at anytime if you have any questions!

  1. Find the right trip for you - Visit our Search for a Program page and have a look at our programmes around the world.
  2. Discuss your options - Our staff are standing by to discuss the details of our programmes with you and answers any questions you have. They can also put you in touch with GVI alumni who can give you their perspective of being a volunteer with GVI.
  3. Complete our online application - Return to the website page for your relevant programme, select your program duration and departure date and hit the "book now" button.
  4. Acceptance - Our staff review every application thoroughly to ensure that you are matched with the right programme.  After reviewing your application you will be contacted by one of GVI's regional coordinators, who will let you know if you have been accepted or not.
  5. Pre-departure - Once you have been accepted on our programme you will work with our staff who will be available to you as you prepare for your programme.  It is our goal to make sure you hit the ground ready to help and make a real contribution on our projects, so providing excellent pre-departure support is very important to us.

Applying for our internship programmes

Interns receive specialist support from our global offices. Please let your GVI coordinator know the focus that you wish to gain training and experience in and the duration that you wish to join the programme for, and they will guide you to the most relevant options and help you to complete your booking form. If your application is successful, you will receive pre-departure information, a training manual and a field manual for your programme and your GVI coordinator will also be on hand to answer any final questions or queries prior to you joining the programme. Full details of training and hours of experience and study are available for applicants wishing to use the course as a work placement for their year abroad while at university.

Applications are generally reviewed and assessed inside of two working days and you will be informed of the result via phone or email. Please understand that all applications are considered on merit and on a first come, first served basis.  Places are limited and can sometimes cause immediate application rejection or an offer for and alternative start date outside of your original application.
